How is everything here free? |
I make money from the content that I produce in a number ways and there are a number of ways which you can help me!
Firstly my website is monetised by using advertising. If you are using some kind of adblocker while utilising these lessons could I ask that you please disable it while at this website. Adverts are a pain in the ass but they are very useful for enabling people like me to offer this type of free service. I do make only a small amount of money from advertising but If everybody routinely used adblockers on this site I would definitely have to start charging for this service. It's a small price to pay if you ask me. Secondly, a few of you very generous people will choose to donate money to support me generating this content. There is an option to make a single donation via Paypal or a monthly donation via Patreon. To those of you who are kind enough to pledge a monthly donation through Patreon - In return you will receive a number of rewards depending on your level of donation. Check my Patreon page for more details but I am currently offering early access to TABS & lessons, google hangouts or 1 on 1 Skype lessons as rewards (and more). Links for both Paypal and Patreon can be found on the right hand side of any page at this website (scroll to the bottom if viewing on a mobile device). |
What do you call this style of guitar playing? |
The style of guitar playing that I teach in these lessons is called Fingerstyle. It's a disputed term but I use it to refer to a method of guitar playing that is played with your fingers as opposed to using a plectrum or pick. Other people will use the term 'Fingerstyle' to refer to a specific genre of music not a method of playing. I would personally make this distinction by using the term 'solo fingerstyle'. The term 'solo' is to denote that the guitar is unaccompanied.
In the Lesson Info field on every lesson page you may see the terms 'Solo Guitar' or 'Guitar Accompaniment' used. A 'Solo Guitar' piece is meant to be played alone with no other instruments or singing (i.e. solo fingerstyle). An 'Accompaniment' will usually mean that the guitar piece should be accompanied by a vocalist or other instruments. |
How does the song difficulty system work? |

Can I make a request? |
Of course! Feel free to make as many requests as you like. I usually read every single comment made on my YouTube videos, Facebook/Twitter posts & this website. The best way to request is if you are able to attach a link to the song - preferably a video of the song on YouTube and be specific as to what type of lesson you want. This way i am able to quickly find, listen and assess the song to see if it's doable within the constraints that I have (time usually)

Do you give guitar lessons over Skype? |
Yes, but there is only very limited availability. To sign up for lessons with me you must visit my PATREON page. There you will find Skype lessons with me as a reward for a monthly pledge/donation. Current pricing info and availability will be on the patron page. Other reward tiers are available and some will include a 'Google Hangout' with me. This in essence just means a group guitar lesson with me. There is currently no limit to the availability of this reward. Check Patreon for more info.
I sometimes host random hangouts or lessons free of charge. I will usually notify people that I am doing this on my FACEBOOK page or TWITTER so keep your eyes peeled! |
